Nigeria Customs Service Refutes Fraud Allegations in E-Auction of Overtime Goods

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has recently addressed allegations of fraudulent activities within its e-auction portal, as reported by various media outlets.

The NCS has firmly denied these accusations and maintains its commitment to transparency and accountability in all its activities.

In response to the allegations, the NCS released a statement emphasizing its dedication to upholding the highest levels of accountability and transparency in all its activities.

The statement also mentioned that the NCS Auction Committee operates within the confines of the law and adheres strictly to established guidelines and procedures for disposing of seized/overtime goods.

The NCS further clarified that the e-auction process is transparent and that the allegations of underhand dealings in the e-auctioning of vehicles or other goods are entirely false, misguided, and spurious.

The NCS also dismissed the suggestion that a token sum of N10,000 is collected as duties to the Federal Government on the e-auction window, which has a reserved price of N400,000.

The NCS has provided data on the e-auction process, revealing that out of 13,605 applicants in the first and second rounds of the e-auction, a total of 2,054 won the bids.

The NCS also stated that the e-auction process has been a success and that it has generated a revenue of N1,035,059,260.00.

The Nigeria Customs Service has strongly denied any allegations of fraudulent activities in its e-auction portal and remains committed to maintaining the most outstanding levels of accountability and transparency in all its activities.
