In a recent update from the Federal Operations Unit Zone B of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Kaduna, it has been revealed that the anti-smuggling unit has seized 27 items worth over N1.9 billion between January 1 and February 16, 2024.

The seizures were made in a concerted effort to curb smuggling activities and ensure compliance with customs regulations.

The items seized include various products such as vehicles, textiles, electronics, and other goods that were either smuggled or lacked proper documentation.

The Nigeria Customs Service has been actively pursuing its mandate to protect the nation’s economy and security by enforcing customs laws and regulations.

The Comptroller of the Federal Operations Unit Zone B, Al-Bashir Hamisu, emphasized the importance of the seizures in safeguarding the Nigerian economy and protecting local industries.

He also highlighted the role of the seizures in preventing the influx of substandard and harmful products into the country.

The Nigeria Customs Service has been employing a combination of technology, intelligence gathering, and collaboration with other agencies to enhance its anti-smuggling efforts.

These efforts have led to significant successes in recent years, as evidenced by the large number of seizures made in the first 46 days of 2024.

As the Nigeria Customs Service continues to intensify its efforts against smuggling, it is expected that more seizures will be made, and the Nigerian economy will benefit from the protection of local industries and the prevention of the influx of substandard goods.
