Nigeria's security partnership with the United States is crucial for defeating terrorism and banditry, the Presidency said on Tuesday.

Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, made the remarks during an X Space discussion.

Intelligence sharing between both nations remains essential. Joint counter-terrorism operations help dismantle insurgent groups and criminal networks across the region, he noted.

President Tinubu's administration is committed to restoring peace nationwide. The focus includes protecting lives, safeguarding property, and defending Nigeria's territorial integrity, Dare added.

Growing collaboration between Nigeria and the US shows shared resolve. Both countries are tackling security challenges through coordinated action and intelligence-driven operations, he explained.

Dare also warned about misinformation spreading on digital platforms. He said false narratives could damage national security and erode public trust.

Unverified information fuels social tensions and incites unrest. It can create unnecessary panic among Nigerians, the presidential aide cautioned.

"The deliberate spread of false information can create unnecessary panic, provoke disorder, and threaten national cohesion," Dare stated.

He urged Nigerians to stay vigilant about what they share online. Citizens must avoid becoming vehicles for destabilizing content, he warned.
