The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Katsina State has cautioned hotel owners against allowing the use of illicit drugs in their premises.

The warning came during a recent meeting with hotel owners, where NDLEA officials emphasized the need for strict adherence to the law and the potential consequences of non-compliance.

NDLEA Commander in the state, Mr. Hassan Sani-Abubakar, stated that reports indicated an increasing trend of hotels being used as dens for drug offenders to run their illicit businesses.

He stressed that the NDLEA in the state is determined to bring offenders to justice and will not allow the situation to escalate.

Mr. Halilu Hamidu, the Deputy State Commander (DSC) of operations and training, highlighted the important role hotel owners can play in curbing the menace of drug abuse and trafficking.

He mentioned that the meeting was a response to the directives of the NDLEA Chairman, retired Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa, who called for all critical stakeholders to be warned before actions are taken.

The NDLEA's warning to hotel owners in Katsina State is part of a broader effort to combat drug abuse and trafficking in Nigeria.

By engaging with stakeholders and enforcing the law, the agency aims to create a safer and healthier environment for the people of Katsina State and the country at large.
