Nasarawa 2023: Speaker thanks citizens for re-electing Gov. Sule

The Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, has appreciated the people of the state for re-electing Gov. Abdullahi Sule and for voting All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 general elections.

The speaker made the commendation while hosting the state chapter of Kwararafa Women Association in his office in Lafia on Tuesday.

He said that the people deserved commendation for giving a fresh mandate to Sule and APC to consolidate on delivering more democracy dividends.

“His Excellency, Gov. Abdullahi Sule and APC won their election. You can not beat people and stop them from crying.

“They (opposition) are crying because they have been defeated,” he said.

The speaker assured them of his support at all times and effective partnership to take the state to the next level of development.

“Today, I feel honoured for your visit to share with us the joy of our electoral victories and for sympathising with some of our members that lost their elections.

“We shall consider you in all of our activities to give you sense of belonging and to enable you contribute positively to the development of the state,” he said.

Abdullahi dedicated the award given to him by the association to the members of the House for giving him all the necessary support to succeed.

“The Award is not only for me but for all Honourable members for their support; this is because the successes and what I have achieved is as a result of the honourable members support,” he said.

Accoreing to him, the House is among the few legislatove assemblies that live in peace with their executive arms in the country.

Earlier, Hajiya Kaltume Ogah, the Chairperson of the association, explained that the visit was to congratulate the speaker and other members who won their elections and to sympathise with those who lost their elections.

“We are here to congratulate you, the Rt. Hon. Speaker, as your victory did not come to us as a surprise because of your achievements and track records.

“Your leadership style has promoted peace and speedy development across the state.

“It is our wish that you return as the Speaker of the 7th Assembly in the state,” she said.

She assured the speaker of effective partnership and support at all times.

Besides, the chairperson presented an award of excellence to Abdullahi, saying: “The Award is based on your achievements and track records as you are a man of peace and unity, hence the need for the award.”
