NAFDAC Takes Action Against Adulterated Olonka Rubber Oil

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has initiated a crackdown on the production and distribution of adulterated Olonka rubber oil.

The move comes in response to a viral social media post alleging that a woman was frying plantain chips using oil adulterated with polythene.

NAFDAC has assured the public that it is taking a science-based approach to verifying the claim and will conduct necessary laboratory investigations.

The agency has also advised consumers to be vigilant and only purchase from reputable sources while checking for NAFDAC registration numbers on product labels.

The agency has met with the leadership of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Group of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (PMGMAN) to inform them of their intent to survey the market and sample and test products.

This collaboration aims to ensure that only quality and certified goods are exported.

The NAFDAC Director-General has emphasized the importance of maintaining open lines of communication and fostering a united effort to curb malpractices in exporting substandard products.

The agency’s proactive approach to safeguarding public health has been met with praise from various stakeholders.

The investigation is ongoing, and NAFDAC has urged the public to remain patient while they gather all the necessary information to ensure a thorough and accurate assessment of the situation.
