Mohbad’s fans demand justice, DSS takes part in inquiry

The death of popular Nigerian rapper Mohbad has sparked outrage and grief among his fans and fellow musicians, who have taken to the streets and social media to demand justice and accountability.

The news of his death sent shockwaves across the country, especially among his loyal fans, who have been mourning and celebrating his life and legacy. Mohbad was one of the rising stars of the Nigerian music scene, known for his unique blend of Afrobeat and hip-hop, which earned him recognition and awards. He was formerly signed to Naira Marley’s Marlian Records but left the label in 2022 to start his own imprint, Imolenization.

Many of his colleagues and friends in the industry have also expressed their condolences and tributes on social media, including Olamide, Tacha, Blaqbonez, Zinoleesky, Rexxie, and Naira Marley.

However, some of his fans are not satisfied with the condolences alone. They are demanding justice for his murder and calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. They have staged peaceful protests in Lagos and other parts of the country, holding placards and banners with slogans such as “Justice for Mohbad”, “Imole lives on”, and “Who killed Mohbad?” They have also launched an online petition on Change.org, urging the authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice.

In response to the public outcry, the Department of State Services (DSS) has announced that it has joined the probe into Mohbad’s death. The DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, said that the agency is working with the police and other security agencies to unravel the mystery behind the killing. He assured that the DSS will leave no stone unturned in its quest to find out the truth and ensure that justice is served.
