Mbah Secures N170b Loan from Enugu Assembly for Development Projects

The Enugu State House of Assembly has given its nod to the request of Governor Peter Mbah to obtain a N170 billion loan from two banks to finance various development projects in the state.

The approval was given at an emergency plenary session on Monday, October 9, 2023.

According to the Speaker of the House, Uche Ugwu, the loan request was based on the approval of the State Executive Council on October 6, 2023.

Ugwu explained that the bank guarantee line would serve as a payment assurance for contracts awarded to approved contractors, such as China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC), for the execution of major projects in the state.

The lawmakers unanimously supported the loan request, saying that it was timely and necessary to enable the governor to deliver on his mandate and fulfil his promises to the people of the state.
