May 29 inauguration in Gombe on course – official

Mr Ismaila Uba-Misilli, the Director-General, Press Affairs, Gombe Government House, said all activities rolled out for Monday’s inauguration in the state were progressing as expected.

Uba-Misilli, who is also a member of the Inauguration Committee, said this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gombe on Sunday.

He said that a special Juma’at prayer was held on Friday at the Bubayero Juma’at Mosque Gombe, while an inter-denominational Church service would be held on Sunday in line with the outlined events.

“Everything is going in place to mark the inauguration ceremony come May 29 by God’s grace.

“Yesterday, we had special prayers, today, we will be having cultural night and tomorrow (Sunday), we will be having inter-denominational Church service.

“On Monday, the inauguration and swearing-in proper; thereafter, we will have other activities like inauguration gala.”

Uba-Misilli said all security measures had been put in place to guarantee the safety and security of those going to witness the event.

He urged residents of the state to cooperate with the security, government and also to comport themselves peacefully during the swearing-in activities.

“We will encourage them to come out en masse and witness the ceremony and we will also encourage them to continue to be law-abiding while they are being part of the programme.”

The DG also stated that the inauguration was a significant event as far as Gombe was concerned in view of the achievements of the present administration in the last four years.

According to him, the inauguration marks the beginning of Gov. Inuwa Yahaya’s second term in office which will result to consolidating good government and improvement on the lives and livelihood of the people of Gombe State.
