Man admits stealing vehicle parts

An Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, on Friday remanded a 29-year-old man, Michael Oyewole, who admitted stealing vehicle parts worth N140,000

The prosecutor, Insp Adegeshin Famuyiwa, had said that Oyewole committed the offence in June 2020, at Olu-Odo, Ebute area of Igbogbo, Ikorodu.

Famuyiwa said that the defendant stole parts of a Lexus car with registration number: No KJA 369 GV.

According to the prosecutor, the vehicle belongs to the complainant, Mr Lawrence George.

She listed the parts stolen by the defendant as brainbox, control switch, kickstarter, plug coil, battery, alternator and radiator.

”He was caught after stealing the items, and was handed over to the police,” she said.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Following the defendant’s guilty plea and expression of willingness to repay, Magistrate A.O. Ogbe referred the case
to the restorative justice section.

He ordered that the defendant should be kept in a custodial facility until June 15 when the case would be mentioned.
