Logistics Command conducts medical outreach to mark NAF at 59

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Logistics Command, Ikeja, has conducted a medical outreach at Ikeja Local Government Area (LGA) to mark its 59th Anniversary.

 

 

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the NAF was established through an Act of Parliamentary on April 18, 1964.

The Command’s Chief of Staff, AVM Nnaemeka Ilo, said that the medical outreach would serve as a platform for the immediate treatment of health conditions such as malaria, eye problems  for people within Ikeja.

Ilo represented the Logistics Command’s Air Officer Commanding (AOC), AVM Emmanuel Shobande, at the medical outreach which held on Tuesday at Ikeja Local Government Area (LGA) Lagos State.

 

 

Ilo also added that the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Isiaka Amao, had directed that every Airforce unit must carry out a medical outreach as a way of giving back to the people.

“It is also part of our way of winning the hearts and minds of the people by saying thank you to the people we serve and the people we benefit from.

“Part of the medical outreach include physical examination of organs such as eyes, ears among others as well as giving out gifts such eye glasses, treated mosquito nets, drugs among other things.

“This is to ensure that we improve the health condition and well-being of people of Ikeja LGA,” he said.

Ilo appealed to the people to please continue to support the government by constantly saying positive things about Nigeria and the government.

“We will surmount all challenges facing us and a greater Nigeria will be birthed,” the Chief of Staff said.

Also, the Chairman of Ikeja LGA, Mr Mojeed Balogun, appreciated the NAF for deeming it fit to choose the community for the medical outreach.

“Choosing Ikeja is historic alongside your 59th anniversary because we host the NAF Command in Ikeja.

“So, it’s a historic day for us in this LGA because the NAF has given us that honour by bringing this programme to Ikeja as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility,” he said.

The chairman said that there was no criteria for residents to take advantage of the free health programme and that it was opened to the public.

Balogun urged those seeking medical attention to take time and explain to the medical practitioners about their health challenges to adequately benefit from the medical outreach.

Mrs Chisom Alaneme, a young mother of a six-week old baby, who brought her baby for medical attention on rashes that had started forming on the baby’s feet, lauded the initiative.

“I was given an ointment to use on the legs. I was also given a mosquito net. I say thank you to the airforce,” she said.

Another beneficiary, Mr Dele Timidare, a petty trader, said that he was given a pair of eyeglasses to help correct his short sighted vision after he was examined by an optician.
