Lieutenant Colonel Makes History as the First Professor from the Army at NDA

The Nigerian Army has witnessed a historic milestone as one of its serving personnel, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar-Surajo Imam, became the first officer to attain the rank of professor.

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) bestowed the title of Professor on Imam, who is now a Professor of Mechatronics Engineering.

This was revealed in a statement by the Academy’s Registrar, Brigadier General A.M. Tukur, who said that Lieutenant Colonel Imam’s promotion, who also leads the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, was approved during the NDA Council Meeting in September and came into effect on October 1, 2022.

The statement further stated that the Academy’s Council’s decision was a testament to the trust and recognition of Imam’s contributions to the Department of Mechatronics Engineering of the NDA.

Moreover, he said that the new professor has delivered exemplary services and maintained the standards of excellence expected in his field.
