Nigeria's Association of Corporate Trustees will convene its 2026 Annual Conference on June 3 at the Civic Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos. The gathering aims to help industry players navigate ongoing regulatory overhauls in the financial sector.
Organisers have titled the event "A New Legal Order: Corporate Trustees at the Intersection of Regulatory Reforms." It will serve as a meeting ground for regulators, policymakers, trustees, lawyers, and capital market operators.
ACT President Omolola Iyinolakan said the pace of financial reforms demands that trustees stay alert and flexible. "The evolving legal and regulatory landscape presents both opportunities and responsibilities for corporate trustees," she noted.
Iyinolakan stressed the need for stronger governance standards and compliance frameworks. Trustees must adapt as reforms reshape the capital market and financial services landscape, she added.
Two top government officials will headline the conference. Securities and Exchange Commission Director-General Emomotimi Agama arrives as Guest of Honour, while Federal Ministry of Finance Permanent Secretary Raymond Omachi participates as Special Guest.
Other speakers hail from leading legal and financial firms. KPMG West Africa and Banwo & Ighodalo will send representatives to address the audience.
A key panel will tackle "The New Rules of Money: Navigating Recapitalization, Taxation & Regulatory Transformation." Participants will examine how sector reforms and tax changes affect businesses, investors, and fiduciary institutions.
Sola Seweje, who chairs the planning committee, believes the conference gives stakeholders a rare chance to shape trusteeship's future. "As the regulatory landscape continues to evolve, corporate trustees must position themselves at the forefront of governance, compliance, and institutional accountability," he said.
He noted that the gathering offers an important platform for collective action. Industry players will work together to chart the path forward for trusteeship practice in Nigeria.
Attendees will gain more than just lectures and speeches. High-level networking sessions and thought leadership discussions are scheduled throughout the day.
These interactions aim to strengthen collaboration across the financial ecosystem. Organisers want participants leaving with fresh partnerships and deeper understanding of sector trends.
The ACT conference has become a premier industry event over the years. It consistently brings together Nigeria's leading voices in trust management and financial governance.
This year's edition comes at a critical moment for the sector. Regulatory changes are reshaping how trustees operate and serve their clients.
