Lagos Assembly Urges Stakeholders’ Meeting to Tackle Hardship, Invites Commissioners

The Lagos State House of Assembly has called on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to urgently summon a stakeholders’ meeting to address the current hardship experienced by residents of the state.

The lawmakers said the state and the country are at the lowest of lows, and the proposed meeting of concerned individuals will help to find lasting solutions beyond palliatives.

During a plenary session, the lawmakers discussed the economic situation in the state and the country, noting that although the hardship is not peculiar to Lagos, the state and its local governments must do more to ease the suffering of the people.

They also advised leaders and statesmen to support the government and persuade the people to cooperate rather than incite them against the authorities.

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, said the situation calls for a stakeholders’ meeting for the inputs of everyone including members of the National and state Assembly as well as local government chairmen.

The House also invited commissioners and top officials for a briefing on the matter.

In a related development, the Lagos State House of Assembly has urged Governor Sanwo-Olu to convene a stakeholders’ meeting to address the rising food prices in the state.

The lawmakers said the meeting would help to find lasting solutions to the current economic crisis.
