Labour Party has welcomed its reinstatement on the ballot for Enugu North's senatorial by-election scheduled for June 20, 2026.

The party's national spokesperson, Ken Eluna Asogwa, issued a statement celebrating the correction. He noted that INEC had initially omitted both the party and its candidate from the official participants' list.

According to Asogwa, this exclusion came despite Labour Party meeting every constitutional and statutory requirement. The party had fulfilled all obligations set by electoral authorities.

After engaging with INEC's leadership, the oversight was reversed. Labour Party and its candidate are now properly registered for the contest.

"The party is fully prepared to contest this by-election," the statement read. It promised voters credible and people-centred representation for the remainder of the tenth Senate term.

INEC's swift correction demonstrated responsiveness to stakeholders. In correcting its error, the commission has strengthened public confidence in Nigeria's electoral system, Labour Party argued.

The party extended gratitude to supporters who raised concerns about its status. Members and well-wishers showed commendable vigilance and dedication throughout the ordeal.

"Your steadfast belief in our party remains truly invaluable," the statement told supporters. Their commitment reinforced the party's resolve during this period.

Labour Party also wished success to all its candidates contesting various by-elections nationwide. Specifically, it named contestants in Nasarawa North, Rivers South-East, and Enugu North as deserving of voter support.

Party leadership expressed optimism about the coming electoral outcomes. They believe victories will advance Nigeria's democratic culture significantly.

Success at the polls, they argued, would strengthen citizens' faith in the entire electoral process. Such outcomes would demonstrate that the system works for ordinary Nigerians.

Labour Party remains confident heading into the final campaign phase. Voters in Enugu North will soon decide between competing candidates vying to complete this Senate term.
