Gunshots and killings have erupted across Osun State recently. The Labour Party is now demanding peace as violence spreads.

Mustapha Adebayo Muhydeen chairs the party's Osun branch. He issued a statement on Thursday condemning the bloodshed.

According to him, politically motivated attacks are becoming unbearable. "The recent incidents threaten the stability and democratic progress of the state and should not be allowed to continue," he stated.

Muhydeen recalled his April 25, 2026 inauguration speech. He'd already warned then about the need for peaceful coexistence.

That message came before August's governorship election in the state. He emphasized it again as violence worsens now.

"The Labour Party in Osun State is deeply concerned about the recent spate of violence, including gunshots and reported loss of lives in some communities," his statement read. He called on all political actors to show restraint immediately.

Security agencies must do more, he insisted. Those committing violence must face prosecution, the chairman added.

Democracy cannot survive without peace, Muhydeen noted. Political competition should never turn bloody, he stressed.

"No political ambition is worth the blood of any citizen," he declared to reporters. He urged stakeholders to prioritize Osun above their own interests.

Families who lost loved ones deserve justice and support. Muhydeen expressed sympathy for victims across the state.

Young people face particular pressure to join violent groups. Politicians are using them as tools, he warned.

Such involvement could ruin their futures permanently. Youth must reject offers to engage in bloodshed, he pleaded.

Dialogue remains the proper way forward in democracy. Lawful engagement solves disputes, not violence.

Muhydeen reaffirmed Labour Party commitment to peaceful politics. He urged residents to stay calm while authorities investigate.

Security forces must intensify patrols everywhere. Order must return to Osun communities now.
