Keyamo Inaugurates N1B Export Processing Center at Lagos Airport to Boost Nigeria’s Export Capabilities

In a significant development for Nigeria’s aviation and export sectors, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, inaugurated the N1 billion Export Processing & Packaging Centre (EPPC) at Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos, on Friday, January 26, 2024.

The event was attended by key stakeholders and representatives from the Nigerian aviation industry.

The state-of-the-art facility, developed by the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) PLC, is aimed at enhancing the country’s cargo export capabilities.

The EPPC will provide a comprehensive range of services, including processing, packaging, and storage of export products, with a focus on perishable goods.

During the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Keyamo, represented by the Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, emphasized the importance of the new center in boosting Nigeria’s revenue growth.

He assured NAHCO of the government’s continued support in this and other ventures.

The Minister highlighted the challenges faced by exporters in the past, including the handling of perishable goods, shelf life, temperature control, packaging, and regulatory compliance.

He expressed his confidence that with the advanced equipment and expertise available at the EPPC, these issues would be significantly reduced, allowing for a more efficient and effective export process.

The event was a significant milestone for Nigeria’s aviation and export sectors, with stakeholders expressing their optimism about the positive impact the EPPC would have on the country’s economy.

The Minister urged exporters and other stakeholders to take full advantage of the facility to boost Nigeria’s export capabilities and enhance its global competitiveness.
