June 12: Abuja Chamber of Commerce seeks business-friendly policies

By Ikenna Uwadileke
The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has urged the Federal Government to make friendly policies that would help the business community operate without hindrances.
Reacting to President Bola Tinubu’s Democracy Day speech,  the  President of ACCI, Dr Al-Mujtaba Abubakar,  urged him to fulfill his electoral pact of  ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda with Nigerians.
He also referred to Tinubu’s inauguration address, where he gave effect to his predecessor’s decision to remove the fuel subsidy and free up for collective use the resources, which had hitherto been pocketed by a few.
Abubakar, however, said that the business community was looking forward to policies that would help them contribute greatly to building a stronger economy.
According to him, if favourable policies are put in place, the private sector would be able to operate without any hindrance thereby contributing to the economic growth of the country.
He also called for investment in transportation, infrastructure, education, regular power supply, healthcare and other public utilities that would improve the quality of lives.
“These and many more are what the business community need to have smooth running of their businesses and we pray that this administration would be magnanimous enough to supply them.
“On behalf of the Executive Council and members of ACCI, I congratulate the people of Nigeria, President Tinubu and his team while also praying for a successful tenure. Happy democracy day,” Abubakar said.
