JSS-2 girl commits suicide over pedants rebuke in Delta

A 15-year old, Junior Secondary School 2 student girl, Miss Oghenevwede Michael has allegedly committed suicide after her parents were said to have reprimanded her for staying out late, in Sapele, Delta State.

ADVOCATE gathered that Vwede, as she was fondly called, allegedly died at a private clinic, after drinking a substance believed to be insecticide.

According to a family source, the deceased had left home for extra moral classes, but did not return home until 9pm and was scolded for staying out late, though remorseful before going to bed, and it was believed to have drank the insecticide on the morning of Tuesday.

“She was supposed to close by 6pm, but came home at 9pm; it was a situation that even made us to look for her. When she came that night everyone was angry with her, her mother scolded her and her elder brother threatened to beat her” a source who claim to be a family member to the Michael’s said.

“No one knew what she had done that morning, not until she began to complain of severe stomach ache, that was when her mother perceived the smell of insecticide from her mouth and raised alarm.

“She was later rushed to the Sapele Central Hospital where she was referred to a private clinic in town where she was confirmed dead.

The remains of the deceased had already been handed over to her family for burial, while a source at the Sapele Police Station who craved anonymity said the case was not reported at the station.
