Israel's military announced Sunday that it killed Sakr Abu Karim, a senior Hamas commander. The IDF posted the claim on X without providing immediate proof.
Abu Karim led a Nukhba cell, according to the military statement. He allegedly helped plan the October 7, 2023 infiltration into the Kisufim area.
Throughout the ongoing conflict, he'd orchestrated multiple strikes against Israeli troops, the IDF said. Recently, he'd been working to rebuild Hamas' military strength, officials claimed.
Weapons were discovered hidden at his home, the military alleged. A large cache was supposedly stored there before the operation.
A second Hamas operative died in the same strike. That man worked as a communications specialist for the group.
In its statement, the IDF wrote: "ELIMINATED: Sakr Abu Karim, a Hamas Nukhba cell commander who was among the leaders of the infiltration into the Kisufim area during the October 7 massacre."
The military added more details about his activities. "Throughout the war Abu Karim advanced and executed attacks against IDF troops, and recently violated the ceasefire by attempting to rebuild Hamas' forces and keeping a large weapons cache in his home," it noted.
Hamas hadn't responded to the Israeli claims when this report was filed. No statement from the group had been issued yet.
