Abdul-Malik Badr al-Houthi delivered stern warnings to Saudi Arabia on Thursday. He threatened military action if the kingdom refuses to meet Ansar Allah's demands.
Speaking during a public address, the Houthi chief accused Riyadh of aligning with Washington against Yemen. He said the Yemeni people reject what he called American-Saudi aggression and occupation.
"As the Yemeni people, we will not accept the continuation of the American-Saudi aggression, occupation, and blockade against our country," Abdul-Malik declared.
His movement won't tolerate what he described as the systematic oppression of Yemen, he added. According to him, Ansar Allah will pursue action until Yemenis achieve full freedom and reclaim their national resources.
But the Houthi leader's focus extends beyond the Arabian Peninsula. He said his group is closely tracking events in Somaliland and Israeli activities in the region.
Abdul-Malik alleged that Israel's recognition of Somaliland aims to control strategic waterways. He specifically mentioned the Gulf of Aden, Bab el-Mandeb Strait, and the Red Sea as targets.
"We will not stand idly by in the face of an Israeli presence in Somaliland," the militant chief said. He vowed to target Israeli forces there whenever necessary.
Somaliland's president visited Israel earlier this month for talks with counterpart Isaac Herzog. The two leaders committed to strengthening their bilateral relationship, marking a significant diplomatic step.
