Isoko South Chairman, Warri, backs polio campaign, vows cleaner, healthier communities

Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State, Friday Ovoke Warri, has pledged stronger action toward improving public health and environmental sanitation across the council area, declaring that “a healthy environment is essential for healthy living.”

Warri made this commitment on Tuesday in Oleh, the council headquarters, while hosting the National Immunisation Plus Days (NIPDs) team during their second-round visit. He assured the health team of the council’s full support in achieving their immunisation goals.

“It’s far better to prevent illness by maintaining a clean environment than to wait until we fall sick,” he said. “We’re committed to boosting the health and well-being of our people. Health is wealth, and we aim to make Isoko South a healthier local government.”

Leading the delegation, Abeh Oromena Evans, the World Health Organisation (WHO) LGA Facilitator, commended the council’s ongoing efforts to prioritise health and support immunisation initiatives.

The NIPDs campaign is a nationwide effort focused on immunising children under five against polio and other preventable diseases. The second round of the 2025 campaign will begin before the end of June, combining house-to-house visits, outreach centres, and fixed posts across Isoko South to ensure full vaccine coverage.

The exercise, in partnership with the council’s health department and development agencies, forms part of Nigeria’s ongoing strategy to achieve full eradication of polio and strengthen routine immunisation systems.

The immunization drive will involve house-to-house visits, outreach points, and fixed posts, ensuring no child is left behind in the effort to eradicate vaccine-preventable diseases.
