Isoko North Chairman, Ogorugba reflects on his journey to leadership at thanksgiving service

The Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area, Delta State, Godwin Ogorugba,  has credited his journey to leadership as a testament to God’s guidance through numerous challenges.

Speaking at a thanksgiving service held on Sunday, October 28, 2024, at Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel) in Ozoro, Ogorugba expressed his gratitude for God’s steadfast support during his two terms as Isoko North PDP Chairman and subsequent election as council chairman.

Ogorugba, joined by family, council staff, political leaders, PDP members, and associates, shared that his path to chairmanship was fraught with obstacles. “My journey to becoming Isoko North council chairman was not an easy battle," he said. "Petitions upon petitions were written against me, but through it all, the church stood by me with fasting and prayers. God showed up when I needed Him the most, and I promised to return with thanksgiving.”

Reflecting on his leadership experience, Ogorugba noted that, as PDP chairman, he led the party to victory in the 2019 and 2023 elections. He credited this success to his faith and the support of the Isoko North community. “I placed everything in God’s hands, and despite the turbulent journey, His promises were fulfilled,” Ogorugba shared.

He dedicated his success to God Almighty, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the people of Isoko North, and local leaders who supported him throughout his journey. “This victory belongs to God, the leaders, and the people of Isoko North, who were steadfast in their support,” Ogorugba said.

Pastor Raphael Asotie, resident pastor of Living Faith Church, delivered a sermon titled "Engaging the Wonder of Praise." Drawing from Psalm 150:6 and Habakkuk 3:17-19, he highlighted the importance of gratitude, saying, “Praising God opens doors to divine direction and fulfillment of His promises in our lives.”

Following the church service, a reception was held at Ogorugba’s country home in Otor-Igho, attended by prominent figures, including Chief Kome Okpobor, (DESOPADEC ), Hon. Bino Owhede, (DTHA), Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor, High Chief Eta Enahoro, Hon. Jude Omena Ogbimi, Dr. Paul Oweh, Hon. Christian Iteire, Hon. Philip Adheke, Chief Emmanuel Edevor, PDP Chairman Isoko North.

Others are, Bernard Idise, IDU President General, Prof. Chris Akpotu, High Chief Iduh Amadhe, Barr Evelyn Aluta, Vice chairman Isoko North, Sir Vote Umukoro, Chief Emmanuel Okpomo, Hon. Richard Isagba, and other leaders.

The event underscored Ogorugba’s commitment to Isoko North and the role faith has played in his leadership journey.
