House of Representatives Extends Holiday, Resumes on April 23 for Renovated Chamber

The House of Representatives has extended its holiday by one week and is now set to resume on April 23, 2024.
The decision was made public by the clerk of the House, Yahaya Danzaria, in a statement released on Thursday.
Initially, the House was scheduled to resume on April 16, 2024, but the date has now been postponed by a week.
This change is due to ongoing renovations of the green chamber, which has been under construction for the past two years.
The extension aims to allow for the completion of the renovation work, ensuring the chamber is ready for future plenary sessions.
In his statement, Mr. Danzaria stated, “I write to respectfully inform you that the resumption date from the ongoing recess has been rescheduled from Tuesday, April 16, 2024, to Tuesday, April 23, 2024.
This adjustment is necessary to allow for the completion of renovations to the chamber of the House of Representatives, ensuring its readiness for plenary sessions, henceforth.”
The clerk also expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the change and requested the understanding and cooperation of all concerned parties.
He advised them to make the necessary adjustments to their schedules and ensure their presence on the new resumption date.
This development is an essential step towards the completion of the renovation work and the efficient functioning of the House of Representatives.
The new chamber is expected to provide a conducive environment for the members to carry out their legislative duties effectively.
