Gombe State Partners with Pharmaceutical Company to Boost Primary Healthcare

Gombe State government has reiterated its commitment to strengthening primary healthcare delivery in the state by partnering with pharmaceutical companies in Nigeria.

The state commissioner for health, Habu Dahiru, recently led a delegation to the headquarters of Nemel Pharmaceutical Limited in Enugu, where they discussed the importance of the existing partnership and its potential to increase the availability of essential health commodities in Gombe State.

During the visit, Prince Nnaemeka Ugwu, the CEO of Nemel Pharmaceutical Limited, emphasized the company’s dedication to continuing its collaboration with the Gombe government.

This partnership aims to ensure a steady supply of essential drugs and to provide opportunities for capacity building within the state’s supply chain through the expertise of Nemel’s supply chain unit.

The collaboration has already resulted in increased focus on and availability of essential health commodities in Gombe State.

This has led to better access to affordable, quality essential medicines and life-saving commodities at both health facilities and the state’s warehouse.

The partnership between Gombe State and Nemel Pharmaceutical Limited is an example of how public-private partnerships can play a crucial role in improving healthcare delivery, particularly in primary healthcare, which serves as the first point of contact for most people in need of medical care.

By working together, the state government and pharmaceutical companies can ensure that essential drugs and life-saving commodities are readily available to those who need them most.

As the partnership continues to grow, it is expected that the primary healthcare sector in Gombe State will experience further improvements, ultimately benefiting the health and well-being of the state’s population.
