Former Presidents Pay Tribute as Dogara Lays Mother to Rest

In a heartfelt display of respect and admiration, former and immediate past presidents of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo and Muhammadu Buhari, joined other dignitaries in honoring the late mother of former Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.

The funeral service for the late Mama Saratu Yakubu Tukur, who passed away at the age of 103, was held at the COCIN Center in Gwarangah, Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State on Saturday.

In his condolence message, Obasanjo acknowledged the pain of losing a mother and encouraged Dogara and his family to find solace in the rich life she lived and the love she shared.

DAILY POST reports that during the funeral service, prominent figures such as Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Niger State Governor Umar Bago paid tribute to the late Mama Saratu, highlighting her inspiring life and the positive impact she had on her community.

Representing the former President, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha, described her death as an inevitable end which every mortal must pass through.

He added that, although he did not meet her in person, he knew that she lived a life well spent and useful to humanity.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeedn Abbas, urged Dogara Yakubu and the immediate family to take solace in the fact that Mama Saratu Yakubu Tukur lived a life of service to humanity.

The Emir of Bauchi, Dr. Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, also paid tribute to the late Mama Tukur, describing her death as a great loss not only to the immediate family but to the entire people of Bauchi State.

During the church service, Dogara emotionally described his mother as an exemplary woman, praising her courage, impact, and devotion to God.

He expressed gratitude for her legacy and promised to share her story with the world someday.

Bidding his mother farewell, Dogara said, “Mama’s life modeled guts, gumption, grit, gravitas and groundedness.

Mama was also relentless and as bold as a lion with a more compelling impactful presence. I am grateful beyond words to have fallen heir to your legacy of reckless boldness which defined your walk with God and the multitudes you touched in special ways.”

The funeral of Mama Saratu Yakubu Tukur brought together prominent figures from across Nigeria to pay their respects and honour her life and legacy.
