Fire Ravages FCT Minister of State’s Abuja Residence

The private residence of the FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, was engulfed in flames due to a suspected electrical fault.

The fire caused significant damage to the seven-bedroom duplex located in the Asokoro district of Abuja, Nigeria.

The fire, which started in the children’s room, was brought under control at around 2:51 pm, with no loss of life reported.

However, the blaze left a trail of destruction, flattening the roof and causing noticeable cracks on the walls.

The fire also destroyed all household items on the upper floor, including air conditioners, beds, clothes, documents, credentials, and jewelry.

A combined team of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Federal Fire Service, and the FCT Fire Service were on the scene to combat the fire and prevent further damage.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety measures and regular maintenance of electrical systems in residential and commercial properties.

It also highlights the need for continued investment in fire services and emergency response capabilities to ensure the safety of citizens and their property.

The FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, and her family are now faced with the challenge of rebuilding their home and replacing their belongings.

It is hoped that the community will rally around them in this difficult time and support them in their efforts to recover from this devastating event.
