FG Allocates N17.7bn for Upgrading Presidential Yacht and Air Fleet in Supplementary Budget

President Bola Tinubu sent a N2.176 trillion extra budget proposal for 2023 to the House of Representatives on Tuesday.

The Defence Ministry got the biggest share of N476.543 billion, followed by Works with N300 billion and Agriculture and Food Security with N200 billion.

The State House section of the budget included N2.9 billion for SUV vehicles; N1.5 billion for official vehicles for the First Lady’s office; N4 billion each for renovating the President’s residential quarters and Dodan Barracks; N3 billion for renovating the Vice President’s quarters in Lagos; and N4 billion for building an office complex in Aso Rock.

The Presidential Air Fleet was allocated N12.7 billion under the National Security Adviser’s office. The Nigeria Navy section had N5 billion for a presidential yacht.

Other allocations were N5 billion for renovating 100 schools; N5.5 billion for the Education Loan Fund; N100 billion each for housing and the Federal Capital Territory Administration; N49 billion for the Department of State Services (DSS); N50 billion for police formations and command; and N615 billion for service-wide votes.

The budget proposal also included N29.7 billion for the National Security Adviser’s office and N18 billion for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct the upcoming governorship election in Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo States on November 11.

The National Assembly has to approve the proposal before it becomes law.
