FFS donates drugs, consumables to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital

The Federal Fire Service (FFS) on Thursday donated drugs and consumables to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital Kano, to support victims of fire disaster in the state.

The Zonal Controller, ACG Ahmad Garba-Karaye in charge of Kano and Jigawa Federal Fire Service, said the donation was to mark the 2023 International Fire Fighters Day (IFFD) and show love to victims of fire disaster.

“The theme of this year IFFD – ‘Honouring the Heroes Who Protect Us’ – reflects importance of recognising bravery and dedication of firefighters who risk their lives to keep us safe”

He listed some of the items donated to include bandages, cotton wool and iodine for injured patients.

Garba-Karaye urged the general public to cooperate with the fire service in preventing fire and give way when going for rescue on the road.

The Chief Medical Director, Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Dr. Husaini Muhammad, commended the service for the donation and decoration of their emblem.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Dr Muhammad was also decorated with IFFD emblem as part of the celebration.

The international fire day is celebrated every May 4, to recognise and honour sacrifices by firefighters to make and ensure their communities are safe.

Symbols of International Firefighters’ Day is a red and blue label ribbon, with two separate colours which include red and blue, conjoined at the top.

The red ribbon represents fire while blue represents water; it is traditionally worn on label and is not limited to the label.
