Federal intelligence officers have apprehended Francis Odiakose, also known as Francis Oduwanor, a key figure allegedly responsible for orchestrating violence in Otulu Ogwashi-Uku, alongside his associate, Mr. Chiedu Agwada, alias “Dagger.”
Oduwanor, evading capture for over two years reportedly with the aid of influential government contacts, was officially declared wanted by the Delta State Government’s Security Council in 2022 due to escalating violence in Otulu Ogwashi-Uku.
His alleged offenses include defying Delta State chieftaincy laws by unlawfully assuming the title of traditional ruler of Otulu Ogwashi-Uku and initiating intimidation campaigns against both the community and the Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom.
According to community sources, a series of violent incidents recently unfolded after Oduwanor’s associates, allegedly protected by high-level connections, were released from detention. The community reported two tragic deaths and described a resurgence of terror targeting recognized local leaders, including traditional chief Anthony Enurah, who has since gone into hiding.
The arrests of Oduwanor and his associates, who were found with sophisticated firearms and other weapons, represent a significant step toward restoring peace in Otulu Ogwashi-Uku. However, local leaders are urging the federal government to take sustained action against all remaining perpetrators to ensure a lasting resolution to the crisis.
Prince Ifeakanachukwu Emordi, Palace Secretary to the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku, confirmed the arrest of Oduwanor and commended law enforcement for their commitment. He stressed the need for the police to continue their efforts undeterred by the suspects’ alleged influence and reiterated the community’s demand for justice and security.
Residents remain hopeful that these arrests mark the beginning of a new era of stability in Otulu Ogwashi-Uku, while calling for consistent governmental support to prevent any resurgence of violence.
