Nigerian striker Janet Akekoromowei has completed her move to Benfica, the Portuguese champions. The 18-year-old signed a two-year deal with an option to extend for another two years.
Akekoromowei recently featured for Bayelsa Queens in Nigeria's top-flight women's league. She earned the Most Valuable Player award during the 2024/25 season after netting 13 goals across 19 matches for Nasarawa Amazons.
The striker represented Nigeria's Falconets at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Colombia. She's also earned senior caps for the national team.
