Ex-Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai showed up at the federal High Court in Kaduna on Thursday morning. He arrived around 9 a.m. to face trial on corruption charges brought by the ICPC.
El-Rufai is defending himself against nine amended counts. The charges include fraud, abuse of office, and corruption allegations.
His lawyer, Ubong Akpan SAN, led the defence team during proceedings. The court heard arguments on his bail application after taking his plea earlier.
El-Rufai has flatly denied every allegation levelled against him. ICPC operatives transported him to court in a white Hilux vehicle.
Security personnel tightened access around the court building throughout the day. Lawyers, journalists, and curious onlookers packed the premises to watch the trial.
