Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the arrest of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claims to be director-general of a purported Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, PFIPC, that authorities say doesn't exist.

The bench warrant came after the police lawyer, Mr Wisdom Madaki, made an oral application requesting the order during proceedings on Wednesday.

Adeyemi was expected to enter a plea to eight charges involving forgery, fraud, and impersonation in case number FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025, but he failed to show up.

Although a lawyer, Mr Genesis Francis, announced his appearance on behalf of the defendant, Adeyemi himself remained absent when the case was called as item 12 on the court's list.

The prosecution counsel informed the court that Adeyemi had repeatedly skipped trial dates without justification.

This marks the second time Adeyemi has failed to appear before the court, having also missed his scheduled arraignment on Tuesday over the certificate forgery allegations.

The repeated absences prompted Justice Umar to take action by issuing the arrest warrant to compel Adeyemi's appearance.

The case touches on allegations that Adeyemi fraudulently presented himself as heading a non-existent presidential council, using forged documents in the process.
