Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North has called for unity, tolerance, and national cohesion as Muslims in Nigeria and across the world celebrate Eid al-Fitr.
In a goodwill message marking the end of Ramadan, the lawmaker congratulated Muslim faithful for successfully completing the month-long fast, describing the period as one of deep spiritual reflection, sacrifice, and devotion.
“I give thanks to Almighty Allah for granting us the strength, patience, and grace to complete the sacred month of Ramadan,” Nwoko said, commending the discipline and resilience demonstrated by adherents of Islam.
He stressed that Eid-el-Fitr goes beyond celebration, noting that it serves as a reminder of shared responsibilities to one another and to society at large. According to him, the values of faith, humility, generosity, and unity cultivated during Ramadan must be sustained to build a more peaceful and inclusive nation.
“Eid is not merely a celebration; it is a call to sustain the enduring values of faith, humility, generosity, and unity,” he stated.
The senator urged Nigerians, regardless of religious or ethnic differences, to embrace tolerance, mutual respect, and compassion, particularly towards the less privileged, while underscoring the importance of collective responsibility in driving national development.
He also called on citizens to use the occasion to pray for the peace, security, and progress of the country, expressing optimism that Nigeria’s challenges can be overcome through unity and faith.
“With unity, resilience, and faith, we will overcome our challenges and realise a brighter future for all,” he affirmed.
Senator Nwoko concluded by wishing Muslims a joyful Eid celebration filled with peace, abundant blessings, and renewed hope.
Eid al-Fitr is observed globally as the culmination of Ramadan, a sacred month dedicated to fasting, prayer, and charity.
