EFCC rules out night-time sting operations

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has ordered that all its commands stop conducting sting operations at night. This is part of the new procedures on the arrest and bail of suspects that have been reviewed.

The order was issued in Abuja on Wednesday by the chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, following the arrest of 69 suspected internet fraudsters by the Ibadan Zonal of the Commission in Ile-Ife, Osun State. Many of the suspects who have been profiled by the command have been freed, while the profiling of the remaining suspects will be completed as soon as possible.

The commission said it is committed to respecting the rule of law in carrying out its mandate.
