Traffic Alert: Third Mainland Bridge Shutting Down for Five Weeks

The Federal Ministry of Works has announced that it will carry out extensive repairs on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos, starting on Monday, November 6, 2023.

According to a statement by the federal controller of works in Lagos State, Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, the repair works will affect the ramps that connect Oworonshoki to Adekunle and Lagos-Island (Adeniji Adele) to Adekunle. These ramps will be shut down for traffic at 7 a.m. on Monday, November 6, 2023, for a period of five weeks.

The ministry has advised motorists to follow the traffic management officials’ instructions and observe the diversions as directed. It has also provided alternative routes for motorists coming from Iyana-Oworo on the mainland and going to Adekunle, who are advised to avoid the Third Mainland Bridge.

The ministry has assured the public that it has deployed traffic officers, tow trucks, and vehicles for effective monitoring, management, and control of traffic during the emergency repairs of the Third Mainland Bridge.

The ministry has also attached a traffic management plan for smooth movement during this period.
