EFCC Grills Accountant General in N585m Humanitarian Ministry Scandal Inquiry

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken a significant step in its ongoing investigation into the alleged N585m humanitarian ministry scandal by interrogating the Accountant General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Madein.

The probe comes after a leaked memo revealed that the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Betta Edu, had directed the Accountant General to transfer the sum to a private account.

The EFCC’s move to question the Accountant General demonstrates its commitment to uncovering the truth behind the alleged scandal, which has sparked public outrage and concern over the use of public funds.

The N585m was reportedly meant for vulnerable groups in four states, but the funds were allegedly transferred to a private account instead.

The investigation has also led to the suspension of Dr. Betta Edu, who has since defended her actions, claiming that the payment followed due process.

She has stated that the recipient of the funds, Oniyelu Bridget Mojisola, currently serves as the Project Accountant for Grants for Vulnerable Groups.

The EFCC’s interrogation of the Accountant General is a crucial step in the ongoing investigation, as it seeks to determine the extent of his involvement in the alleged scandal.

The outcome of this probe could have significant implications for the humanitarian ministry and those involved in the case.

As the investigation continues, the public eagerly awaits further updates on the case and hopes that the truth will be uncovered.

The EFCC’s commitment to transparency and accountability in this matter is a positive sign that the government is taking the issue seriously and is determined to ensure that public funds are used appropriately and for their intended purposes.
