The Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) has commenced a fresh cleanup intervention at Koka Bridge in Asaba, intensifying efforts to improve environmental sanitation within the state capital.
The exercise, which began on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, was undertaken by the Agency’s Environment Unit and focused on the removal of indiscriminately dumped waste, littered faeces, and accumulated sand along the bridge corridor.
The operation was led by the Head of Environment, Mr Isaac Nwosu, who supervised the cleanup team to ensure the effective clearance of environmental nuisances and the restoration of cleanliness in the area.
Speaking on the intervention, the Director-General of DSCTDA, Mr Patrick Ukah, said the exercise aligns with the Agency’s mandate to maintain a clean, orderly, and environmentally friendly capital territory.
Ukah emphasized that environmental cleanliness remains a priority for the Agency, adding that the cleanup would continue on Thursday with the clearing and evacuation of sand from the bridge axis.
He called on residents and road users to complement government efforts by avoiding indiscriminate waste disposal and adopting proper sanitation practices.
The intervention, according to the Agency, forms part of its sustained commitment to promoting a cleaner and healthier environment across the capital territory.
