Delta Governor Calls for End of Petrol Importation, Revival of Refineries

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on the Federal Government and relevant stakeholders to work towards reviving the nation’s refineries, insisting that Nigeria has no reason to import petrol with its cost implications for the economy.

The governor said that it was unacceptable for an oil-producing nation with four refineries to resort to fuel importation for its local consumption. He said that this was not only a waste of resources but also a threat to the security and stability of the country.

Oborevwori also commended NUPENG for its role in the development of the oil and gas sector and thanked the union for its support during and after the general elections. He described NUPENG as a critical stakeholder in the Nigerian project and assured them of his administration’s collaboration and partnership.
