Dangote Cement Plc, the leading cement company in Sub-Saharan Africa, has denied any involvement in a sales promotion that is being circulated on social media and other platforms. The company said it has not authorised any third party to run such a promotion on its behalf and advised the public to disregard it.
According to a statement issued by the company on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, the promo is a scam aimed at defrauding unsuspecting customers and tarnishing the reputation of the company. The statement read in part:
"We wish to state categorically that Dangote Cement Plc has not launched any sales promotions that are being circulated on social media and other platforms. We have not authorised any third party to run such a promotion on our behalf, and we advise the public to disregard it.
Dangote Cement Plc is a responsible corporate citizen that operates with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. We value our customers and stakeholders, and we will not engage in any activity that will undermine their trust and confidence in us.
