Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ede Dafinone, has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden death of Mr Sunday “Sunny” Kotor, Senior Special Assistant on Protocol to the Delta State Government, describing his passing as a painful loss to the state and all who worked with him.
Kotor reportedly died on Friday, March 20, 2026, prompting an outpouring of tributes from government officials and associates who remembered him for his professionalism and dedication to duty.
In a statement issued on Monday, Dafinone said the late protocol officer was a consummate professional whose discipline, diligence and attention to detail distinguished him in the discharge of his responsibilities.
According to the senator, Kotor brought “dignity, order and excellence” to state functions, executing his role with quiet efficiency and unwavering commitment, thereby contributing significantly to the smooth coordination of official engagements.
He extended heartfelt condolences to the state government, noting that the deceased was a dependable and loyal officer whose contributions would not be forgotten.
“His absence will surely be felt across the corridors of government,” Dafinone said, while acknowledging the vital role Kotor played in ensuring seamless protocol operations.
The lawmaker also sympathised with the bereaved family, describing the loss as profound and difficult, and prayed for strength and comfort for them in this period of grief.
He urged them to take solace in the impactful life and legacy of service left behind by the late aide.
Dafinone concluded by praying for the repose of Kotor’s soul, noting that his dedication to service would remain a lasting memory among those who knew him.
