Cristiano Ronaldo Rates Saudi Pro League Above French Ligue 1 in Controversial Interview

In a recent interview, football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo made waves by stating that the Saudi Pro League is a more competitive and higher-quality league than the French Ligue 1.

The 38-year-old Portuguese forward, who joined Al Nassr in January 2024, shared his thoughts on the Saudi Pro League and its potential for growth.

Ronaldo’s comments have sparked debate among football fans and analysts, with many questioning the basis for his comparison.

The Saudi Pro League, while boasting a growing roster of international talent, is not generally considered to be on par with the top European leagues.

“The Saudi Pro League can become a top-five league in the world if they can attract more big-name players,” Ronaldo said. “I think other small things they need to improve, like the infrastructure and the VAR system.”

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner also mentioned that he would welcome the likes of Lionel Messi, Karim Benzema, and Luka Modric to the Saudi Pro League. “They are very welcome here, and if that happens, the league will improve a little bit,” he added.

Ronaldo’s remarks have been met with skepticism, with some critics pointing out that the Saudi Pro League is currently ranked below the French Ligue 1 in terms of competitiveness and quality.

However, the influx of high-profile players to the league could potentially change this perception in the future.

As the debate rages on, football fans and analysts will be watching closely to see if the Saudi Pro League can live up to Ronaldo’s expectations and become a top-tier league in the world of football.
