Crisis : Association appeals to Nasarawa Govt to provide relief materials to victims

The Mada Development Association (MDA) has urged the Nasarawa State Government to provide relief materials to the victims of attack in Tatara Mada, Kokona Local Government Area of the state, by suspected herdsmen.

The association said the assistance would alleviate the hardship of the victims, who have been rendered homeless due to the attack.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the association, Mr Monday Pius, and made available to newsmen in Akwanga on Tuesday.

It said that the national executive of the association under the leadership of Mr James Bashayi had visited the scene of the attack

“And to ascertain the level of destruction , we discovered that houses, vehicles, food items and motorcycles, were burnt and destroyed; so many people were rendered homeless.

“No fewer than 12 persons were killed by well armed herders,” the statement claimed.

The association pleaded with the government urgently create an IDP camp for the victims of the attack.

“To enable our homeless people to be adequately taken care of and improve their standard of living.

“We plead for reinforcement of more security agencies to curtail and secure our people.

“And provision of relief materials to the homeless persons affected by the crisis,” the statement added.

It also urged the state government to use all necessary mechanism to resolve the crisis between herders and host communities towards finding a lasting solution to the crisis.

Besides, the association called on their members and other spirited individuals to help the victims of the attack in order to cushion their lives.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that no fewer than 12 people were allegedly killed in Tatara Mada by suspected herdsmen on April 19.
