A Badagry Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday ordered that a 45-year-old businessman, Biliaminu Alabi, be remanded in Awajighor Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl.
Magistrate T.A. Popoola, who did not take the plea of Alabi, ordered that the case file should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
Popoola adjourned the case until Sept. 6 for mention.
The police charged Alabi with defilement.
Earlier the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Ayodele Adeosun told the court that Alabi committed the offence on June 18 at 5 p.m. at Iworo area of Badagry, Lagos.
Ayodele said Alabi lured the minor into his room when he discovered that her parents had gone out and defiled her.
He said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 261, 263 and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.
