Court Decides Bail for Adeleke’s Ally, Oyeyemi, Amid Heavy Security Presence

Heavy security presence was observed at the Federal High Court, Osogbo, Osun State, as the court prepared to deliver its ruling on the bail application of Olalekan Oyeyemi, an ally of Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is standing trial for k!lling and terrorism charges.

Oyeyemi, a prominent figure within Adeleke’s circle, was arraigned on a 10-count charge of k!lling members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and terrorism by the Inspector General of Police.

Oyeyemi’s counsel, Edmund Biriomoni, had submitted a formal bail application based on seven grounds, while the prosecution counsel, Francis Osie, opposed the application citing Sections 162 and 165 of the Administration of Criminal Justice 2015.

The presiding judge, Justice Emmanuel Ayoola, had adjourned the ruling on bail to today.

As of the time of the report, the bail ruling was yet to commence.

The heavy security presence at the Federal High Court premises and the surrounding area was a clear indication of the high-profile nature of the case, as well as the potential implications of the court’s decision on the political landscape in Osun State and beyond.

The outcome of the bail ruling will be closely watched by both supporters and critics of Governor Adeleke, as well as observers of the ongoing legal battles between the ruling party and the opposition in Nigeria.

The case also underscores the broader issue of political violence and the role of the judiciary in ensuring justice and accountability.
