By Adepote Arowojobe

Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government Council in Lagos State, Mr Wasiu Adesina, gave cash gifts of N10,000 each to 40 widows on Saturday.

He also gave the widows foodstuffs.

Adesina also donated a piece of land to the Ikorodu chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for a church building.

He made the presentation of the gifts during the third edition of the council’s annual thanksgiving tagged “Joyful Noise’’.

The CAN chapter is expected to build the church cathedral in the council area.

Adesina also promised to assist CAN in fast-tracking the building of the cathedral and expressed delight at the victory recorded by the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the 2023 general elections.

“We thank God for the victory recorded by our party, the APC at the general elections winning the presidency, state and many legislative seats.

“Our methods of worship may differ, but the Holy Books still direct us to one God for us to regard Him in oneness and appreciate His sovereignty.

“As we raise our voices, thanking Him, irrespective of our beliefs, culture or practices, God answers our prayers,’’ he said.

Adesina commended members of staff and the legislative arm of the council for their unflinching support and promised to maintain the good relationship for economic development.

Earlier, Mrs Abolanle Adesina, wife of the council boss, said the idea of giving gratitude to God was to receive more blessings and directions for more developmental strides.

“We are using this medium to thank God for the progress of this administration and successes recorded during the 2023 general elections.

“With the emergence of Sen. Bola Tinubu as the president-elect and Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu returned elected, Nigeria is going to be a better place for us all,’’ she said.

Responding, Pastor Femi Gilbert of the Daylight Revival Church International appreciated Adesina for his kind gesture.
