Child Abuse: Fleeing Lawyer Nabbed After Brutalizing 10-Year-Old Housemaid

In the case of child abuse in Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria, the female lawyer, Adachukwu Chikelue-Okafor, who had allegedly inflicted severe injuries on her 10-year-old housemaid, has been arrested and detained after she surrendered to the police.

The incident came to light when the state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Ify Obinabo, confirmed the lawyer’s detention in an interview with reporters in Awka.

Mrs. Obinabo stated that the suspect would be arraigned before the Children, Sexual and Gender Based Violence Magistrate court this week.

The lawyer was accused of inserting a hot knife into the private part of her housemaid and using a hot iron to burn parts of the girl’s buttocks.

The victim suffered varying degrees of injury as a result of the lawyer’s brutality.

After the incident was reported, the lawyer went into hiding, boasting that she was untouchable because of her profession.

The state government, in response, placed a N 2 million bounty on her.

Following her surrender, the Commissioner visited the victim in the hospital, confirming that she had been successfully treated and discharged.

Mrs. Obinabo thanked God for the quick recovery of the young girl.

The case has garnered significant attention in the media, with many calling for justice to be served and for stricter laws to be implemented to protect children from abuse.

The outcome of the trial will be closely watched as the public hopes for a fair and just resolution to this horrific case of child abuse.
