Maverick entertainer Charles Oputa, known as CharlyBoy, has showered Peter Obi with birthday wishes as the Nigeria Democratic Party presidential candidate turns 65 on Sunday. The activist took to X, formerly Twitter, to send prayers and warm messages to Obi.
"As you add another year, may your strength increase," CharlyBoy wrote. "May your courage multiply and may your love for this country survive all the attacks, insults, and distractions."
He stressed that Nigeria still needs voices willing to tell those in power difficult truths. "Happy birthday, my brother," he concluded in his post.
CharlyBoy hailed the former Anambra State governor as a symbol of hope to younger Nigerians. In his words, Obi had convinced millions that a better Nigeria remains achievable despite widespread disillusionment with leadership.
"In a country where many people have stopped expecting anything from their leaders, you somehow make millions believe a better Nigeria is still possible," he said. "That's no small feat."
The entertainer recently announced plans to release his memoir titled "999", describing it as a comprehensive account of his life journey. He told supporters the book would feature a foreword by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
The public presentation of the memoir will hold on July 31 in Lagos. To promote the work globally, digital billboards at New York Times Square in the United States have already displayed it.
