The town hall in Idumuje-Ugboko, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, was filled to capacity. Residents of all ages gathered to honor a man whose life has been dedicated to uplifting their welfare—Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly (NASS).
As one testimony after another poured in, it became evident that Senator Nwoko’s impact was not measured by political rhetoric but by the lives he had transformed.
Mrs. Ngozi Eze, a widow and farmer, was the first to speak. Fighting back tears, she shared, “Before Senator Nwoko, farming was a nightmare because our roads were impassable. Transporting cassava and yams to the market was almost impossible. Then he came, and the roads were fixed. Today, I can feed my children and send them to school. He gave us hope when we had none.”
Her words drew thunderous applause, reflecting the depth of gratitude among those present.
Next, a young graduate named Chike stepped forward, holding up his degree certificate. “I was one of the beneficiaries of Senator Nwoko’s scholarship program,” he began. “I grew up in a small village where education seemed like an impossible dream. But through his Prince Ned Nwoko Foundation, I studied engineering at the University of Lagos. Today, I work with an international company, all because of him. He didn’t just pay my school fees; he believed in my future.”
Senator Nwoko’s focus on education has been one of his most celebrated achievements. Thousands of students across Delta State and beyond have benefited from his scholarships and mentorship programs, driven by his belief that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and unlocking potential.
Dr. Tunde Bello, a public health expert, highlighted another groundbreaking initiative: Senator Nwoko’s malaria eradication campaign. “When he launched this campaign, many dismissed it as too ambitious. But today, countless lives have been saved. From distributing mosquito-treated nets to funding groundbreaking malaria vaccine research, he has shown us what it means to care deeply for humanity.”
The malaria project has reached even the most remote villages, providing critical resources to families who previously had no access to healthcare. To many, this campaign has been more than a public health initiative—it’s been a lifeline.
The testimonies continued. Youth leaders praised Senator Nwoko’s unwavering support for sports and innovation, especially through his creation of STARS University. Market women shared how his microloans revitalized their businesses. Environmentalists applauded his tree-planting initiatives, which have turned barren lands into lush green spaces.
Perhaps the most touching moment came when a young girl, no older than ten, shyly stepped forward, clutching a drawing. “My daddy said Senator Nwoko built the school I go to,” she said softly. “I drew this for him because he gave me a place to learn.” She handed over her drawing, a simple sketch of a classroom, to one of Senator Nwoko’s aides. Her innocence and gratitude moved everyone in the hall.
Throughout Delta State and beyond, testimonies like these echo the same truth: Senator Nwoko is a leader who prioritizes people over politics. His legacy is not confined to policies but lives on in the countless lives he has transformed.
In 2019 and 2020, former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa lauded Senator Nwoko on his birthday, describing him as a “committed patriot” whose love for his state and country is exemplary.
A statement by Okowa’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Olisa Ifeajika, published in Ndokwa Reporters (December 23, 2019) and Vanguard Newspaper (December 23, 2020), celebrated Senator Nwoko’s contributions to Delta’s growth and development.
“Prince Ned Nwoko has continued to blaze the trail by providing and offering leadership at various levels of society,” the statement read. “He has created jobs and opportunities for many people, helping them realize their potential and earn a decent livelihood through his investments and philanthropy.”
The governor also acknowledged the senator’s humanitarian projects. “Your malaria eradication project in Africa and the establishment of STARS University are prime examples of your commitment to improving lives and creating wealth for Nigerians.”
Senator Nwoko’s generosity and dedication to service have made him a beloved figure, not just in Delta State but across Nigeria. His impact extends beyond the halls of government into the hearts of the people he serves—a true testament to what leadership should be.
