Bayero University, Kano has extended its application window for the Nigerian Education Loan Fund scheme. The new dates run from May 8 to May 29, 2025.

Lamara Garba, the university's Director of Public Affairs, announced the decision in a bulletin released on Saturday. He said the extension followed a formal request by the institution's management.

Students who've completed screening can now visit the NELFUND portal to submit their applications. According to Garba, this represents the final chance to apply for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Applicants must apply for both institutional charges and upkeep simultaneously, he stressed. Submitting separate applications won't be processed, the director warned.

All required documents must be uploaded correctly to avoid rejection or delays. Garba emphasized the importance of following every step of the application procedure.

He advised students to avoid using microfinance wallets like Opay and Moniepoint for registration. Banking details should come from traditional commercial banks instead, according to him.

Email addresses must be accurate and regularly checked for updates. Applicants were told to remember their passwords carefully for future portal access.

Students can track their applications using the credentials they create during registration. Garba urged all eligible candidates not to miss the May 29 deadline.

BUK management hopes the extension will allow more students to access educational financing. The university called on interested applicants to act quickly before the window closes.
